Silence is still Golden

Silence may sound like an ancient concept, but in this time more than ever, it has returned as a necessity.

When you are forced to constantly explain yourself, to justify your existence, to ask for permission to be what you already are, something subtle begins to happen: your roots weaken. Not because they are fragile, but because they are being exposed for too long, searching for approval instead of nourishment.

The Strength of Stillness

Turn your head. Step aside.

A tree does not need to move to survive a storm. Its strength lies elsewhere. Its branches may remain still, allowing the wind to pass around them, redirecting force rather than absorbing it.

This is the silence of the trunk. The silence of something ancient, tired of being attacked, tired of having to prove it deserves space, light, and time.

Silence becomes strength when words no longer work—when they are unheard, misunderstood, or twisted into something they were never meant to be.

Even if no one believes you, even if the sky has already emptied itself of clouds, the birds have moved on, and the sun has disappeared beyond the horizon, you remain.

You are still there, holding an entire inner garden together—keeping the soil from collapsing under repeated tremors, offering shelter so that fragile life can continue to grow beneath a vast, imperfect, living canopy. Even in the cold, when conditions are harsh.

Patience and Resilience in the Qur’an

The Qur’an reminds us:

“And We will surely test you with something of fear, hunger, and loss of wealth, lives, and fruits. But give glad tidings to the patient—those who, when calamity strikes them, say: ‘Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.’”(Al-Baqarah 2:155–156)

People may attack what you do, but overlook what you give. They may focus on what you failed to accomplish, ignoring what you wisely avoided. They may accuse you of moving, forgetting that you were always standing there.

For this reason, choose silence.

Do not allow anyone to reach for your roots. The air that sustains you cannot be taken away.

And in time, those who blow against you will grow tired—while you remain.

The Promise of Ease

The Qur’an also says:

“Indeed, with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease.”(Ash-Sharh 94:5–6)

And:

“So do not weaken and do not grieve; you will prevail if you are believers.”(Al ‘Imran 3:139)

Remain steady.

Even in silence, you are powerful. Like a tree that quietly sustains everything growing beneath it, your presence—unspoken, rooted, patient—is strength, protection, and hope.
